Celebrate the Bard of Avon on a romantic date at the annual Shakespeare Festival of Dallas. The second oldest free Shakespeare festival in the country, the professional troupe holds performances like Shakespeare in the Park, Shakespeare on the Go and Shakespeare Unplugged, all outdoors in the summer and fall.

Shakespeare Dallas is rooted in the tradition of summer stock and Shakespeare in the Park productions. Eager audience members can experience the Bard of Avon in a casual setting, encouraging young and old alike to appreciate one of the greatest writers in the English language.

The event was founded in 1971 and has grown into a favorite cultural pastime for the city of Dallas. Shakespeare Dallas also focuses on youth education to cultivate an appreciation of Shakespeare's historic plays.

Since its inception, Shakespeare Dallas is now a year-round company that has expanded its focus and uses the works of William Shakespeare to teach theater and arts to up-and-coming youth.

In all, Shakespeare Dallas is responsible for coordinating its Shakespeare in the Park outdoor productions, Shakespeare on the Go! educational programs for youth, and Shakespeare Unplugged for young adults ages 18 and older.
